ARTLESS PIVOTS TO VIDEO

SPOILER ALERT: Not Really
1

“PIVOT TO VIDEO!” This strategy has saved so many media institutions. I’m not doing that but there’s a little video in this post and it’s a lot cooler with the sound turned on.

Yes, Artless® has been largely inactive for a minute. Why? Print, basically. I’ve been working on some projects, writing occasionally for Closer Skateboarding , and this book I co-authored just dropped, so here’s some info on that.

Back in 2008, Nathan Nedorostek and I dropped a book that we compiled for roughly five years. We largely found these pieces of history without “the internet/social media” and spent many weekends ironing old punk T-shirts. BTW have you ever ironed or steamed a 25-year-old punk tee? The smell is… unique.

Anyway…

Radio Silence: A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore Music compiled a timeline of hardcore punk aesthetics through photos, ephemera, artwork, and stories from the folks who were there.

We had some great events and art shows, years passed, and then it went out of print. Without Instagram or any real aggregate place for the content to live, I guess it never happened, which is pretty cool because the book is kind of back… for the first time to many or whatever.

Revelation Records worked with us to not only restore the original but add 34 pages with unseen/rare images with commentary.

Yup, we cooked up what is techinically Radio Silence 3.0 and added in some very cool shit and now it’s up for Pre-Order now (a very quick one) along with some T-Shirts.
